How do anglers fish and what does that matter to your writing?

Very simple. They hook the fish once and reel it in however they need to play it. They do not keep letting it slip off and hope to re-hook it repeatedly til they get it to the bank while it just… cooperates.

Same with your copy. Hook the reader once. Don’t let their focus slide and hope to keep reengaging it while they bear with you.

3 quick tips for quick copy

1- Lead with the strongest part of the point. Attention wanders toward the end of a line.

2- Several short sentences read quicker than a long one broken up by commas. Can it stand alone? Let it.

3- Short words and words with fewer beats flow faster. Short words are obvious, but three-beat words can often be swapped for a two.

Bonus tip: Check how well each word leads into the next. If it feels like a ball drop at the bowling alley, try something else.

That should help.
